The eight day shooting safari commences from the newly rebuilt Rovos Rail private station in Pretoria, stopping at some of the best bird shooting destinations that South Africa has to offer. While the guns are out shooting there is plenty to keep the non-shooters entertained, game drives, private tours and art galleries offer something for everyone.

The train itself is pure luxury, with friendly service and astonishing cuisine. It’s made up of a beautiful vintage dining coach, lounge and ensuite sleeping cars. There’s an open balcony car at the rear of the train, ideal for a G&T and watching Africa unfold behind you. There’s something lovely about hearing the dinner gong as you’re getting ready in your cabin. It’s all very refined.

Apart from shooting the Rovos Rail offers a wide array of journeys through the highlights of South Africa. The train can be chartered to more or less anywhere there is a railway line in South Africa. Experience iconic destinations such as Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsula or visit the Victoria Falls in neighboring Zimbabwe. The length of your trip is up to you, from 48 hours up to 15 days.
